Self-Study 5 - Lighting and Shadergraph

During this tutorial I followed a YouTube video called LIGHTING in Unity, by (Brackeys, 2018). Below is a screenshot of the final outcome of the tutorial. I applied the tone mapping with ACES mode (Academy Colour Encoding System) as part of the post processing.

I then watched a YouTube video called REALTIME LIGHTING in Unity, by (Brackeys, 2018). I then applied some of the principles to my scene. Many lighting features were applied to the scene that were mentioned in the video, as well as finding out what difficulties or problems can arise when baking and generating the lighting in different ways.

Unwanted lighting issue with the markings and top section not appearing correctly, which was partially corrected by changing it back to a non-static object, and regenerating the lighting.

I downloaded and applied a free asset from the Unity Asset Store, by (ProAssets, 2025) for the skybox as seen in the screenshot below:

Following that I followed along in a video called Basics of Shader Graph - Unity Tutorial, by (Brackeys, 2018). The screenshot below is the outcome of following the video and applying the procedures to the monkey's head. It is an animated shadergraph.

Then I applied a custom shadergraph to my barrel object, as seen below:

In this screenshot the Main Preview isn't really showing correctly, however it shows the layout of the shader graph.

I then added some lights around the scene, as you can see in the screenshots below:

Point light attached to the top of the beacon.

Point lights attached to both sides of the moving obstacle, set to be a non-static object.

A green point light set above the doorway, and a plane with a material that has an emission.
