Self-Study 1 - Barrel and Beacon

Self-Study 1 - Barrel and Beacon

First of all, I watched the suggested most important Blender tutorial videos at the following link: Blender Fundamentals 2.8 - YouTube (Blender, 2019).

I then downloaded Blender, which can be found at the following link: blender.org - Home of the Blender project - Free and Open 3D Creation Software (Blender, 2024).

I started using Blender by creating a barrel, I did this by closely following a video tutorial at the following link: Blender 2.8 How to Create a Wooden Barrel (Studio Kavod, 2020).

I found the whole process to be interesting and challenging, having never used Blender software previously.

For my next task, I needed to model an object like a building, statue, or something that could be found near a tourist attraction. I decided on an object and visited the site to take some photos. The object is located in Devonport, Tasmania, on the Mersey River. It's a light beacon for ships.

Screenshots of photos taken of the object.

I created a model of the Light Beacon in Blender using the techniques that I had learnt so far so far by making the barrel.
